the words are still coming or maybe not, maybe they’re not mine at all. maybe there are just too many things to say.

here’s what i do know…. she is lover and sister, warrior, mother, holder of much and one who surrenders fully to the mystery.

she is the greatest change maker and the most patient move taker. she is you and me and we. she is fierce, loyal and a total beauty.

fully embodied, completely alive, a force to be reckoned with indeed.

“Whatever else you do, listen to your Deepest Self. Love Her and be true to Her, speak Her truth, always.”

Each year we join a few other beloved families {there’s about 35 of us when we all get together} and spend a weekend camping in Big Sur. This year we’ll be taking me and my broken fibula with us which may make our trip a little less adventurous but I’m sure just as sweet.

One of the things I’ve been doing with my unplanned “down time” is going through our family photos which has flooded me with so many happy feelings. It’s also reminded me that some of the things I love most in a photo is how it transports me, reminds me, shows me things I may have missed even when I was in the moment and the way it tells me the story of how beautiful my life is. And guess what, I get all this goodness even when the composition is imperfect, the lighting isn’t ideal and the focus is soft.

When it comes to my family I often use my iPhone 5 because it’s handy and it’s quiet. Spending a little time with my personal photos has really inspired me to keep doing just that {it’s also sparked a few personal project ideas that I’m so excited to get working on and share}.

However you’re spending these summer days, I hope you’re enjoying them fully and documenting them in the way that feels the most natural and good to you.

Much love,

~ Danielle

2015-07-29_0002Anytime a woman reaches out to me ready {even if filled with uncertainty}, to be seen and to see herself, I get butterflies. There’s something so magical about these sessions which really begin the minute we start dreaming them up together. The way they unfold is always a bit of a mystery and it’s just SO good! Every session, like every woman is totally unique and the time I was able to spend with this woman was spectacular.

Portland ~ A Geographic Romance

I love this town. I love the way it truly is a city with good food, beautiful art, grit and that nice urban buzz that makes the explorer in me very happy. I also love the way it still feels like a small town, with nature just a few steps away and seriously some of the friendliest folks I’ve ever met.

Mostly though, I love the people who call Portland home. Some of my oldest and best friends live there, several of my amazing clients live there and for the last year my oldest son has lived there. So yeah, it’s pretty easy to get me to Portland.

I have so many beautiful images and stories to share with you from my latest Portland trip but for now, here’s a just little peak into my time there.

Enjoy, xo

Indiegogo

Recently I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful work of Joanna Otten owner and creator of Twisted Whimsy jewelry. Her work is powerful and her mission gorgeous. I absolutely love being a part of such magical creating.

For the next 3 days we all have the opportunity to be part of her goodness while also supporting her growth and expansion. She created an Indiegogo campaign and the specially priced pieces that go with each contribution are so pretty!

Click here if you’d like to know more and get your self a little of this goodness.
